The Lady Spa
The Lady Spa unit houses the new therapy rooms, several sauna spaces and a terrace with a swimming pool connected to the existing thermal bath. The relationship to the old building is established through the open spaces and materiality. The free-form design language and the timber exoskeleton-like façade is an alternative interpretation of the distinctive timber character found in the existing bath.
This extension seeks to have no front or backside but to flow visually and engage itself with nature. The new building receives no facade in the classical sense; free-curved timber elements flow along the exterior surface of the building pronouncing the shape of it and homogenizing the different requirements of the spaces behind in elevation. Those timber elements bend outwards towards the middle of their height and their ridge is a 3D curve defined by programmatic or volumetric necessities. The timber band reduces visually the height of the building and at the same time creates an intimate atmosphere in the new sauna garden.
The building changes its appearance from different perspectives, walking towards the forest it looks like part of it, viewed from the front, it appears mystical, transparent. There is a flow of light and nature from all sides. From certain angles it looks wider from others narrower; however, it does appear through the vertical timber slats like a built interpretation of a forest.
Aktiv Pool
The active pool is planned as an additional attraction for the Keidelbad. It is a separate area dedicated to courses, with water attractions for relaxation. Planning is currently only carried out up to the Schematic Design phase, as the active pool will be further realized at a later stage.
