The new building of the swimming, sports and district center for Oberkassel and Heerdt was baptized at the topping-out ceremony in the name of “The Flow – Meeting on the water”.
“The Flow – Encounter by the water” – this is the name of the new building complex with indoor pool, which the state capital of Düsseldorf is building directly on the Rhine at the city limits of Oberkassel / Heerdt. As part of the topping-out ceremony on Tuesday, September 10, Lord Mayor Thomas Geisel presented the name, which was developed in cooperation with Düsseldorf Marketing GmbH.
Mayor Thomas Geisel: “The name ‘The Flow – meeting on the water’ fits in perfectly with this building complex, which is a multifunctional, architectural highlight and has a unique location on the Rhine.
With this innovative building on the outskirts of Oberkassel and Heerdt, the people of Düsseldorf can look forward to a highly attractive swimming pool, but also to modern premises for clubs and the district representation. The entire citizenship on the left bank of the Rhine benefits from this extraordinary new building.
The building on Pariser Straße 41, whose architecture is reminiscent of a pebble lying in the Rhine, will in future not only be enriching from a swimming-sports point of view, but will also become a central sports and meeting place for the districts on the left bank of the Rhine. The new building is a swimming center, but also meeting and communication point for the sport, for citizens and the politics – and with the view of the Rhine.
Here the district administration office 4 (Oberkassel, Niederkassel, Lörick, Heerdt) gets a new home. Another peculiarity arises from the parking space with the resting football training field above the parking deck. The project is being implemented by Bädergesellschaft Düsseldorf mbH. The new building should be completed in late 2020 / early 2021.
