The design reflects the fast-growing pace of Lithuania’s development. The decision to demolish and replace the existing building is an important investment for sport and infrastructure not only in Lazdynai but for the nation.
The new swimming complex is based on a rectangular floor plan, its clear edges defining the compact structure. The shape of the building itself reflects the public function through its architectural vocabulary. The front of the new Lazdynai pool has a spacious glass facade and reveals the dynamics of its internal function. Both aquatic areas (50m Pool and Diving Well) are visible from the outside.
On the back, the building connects to the surrounding green area. The site peels up and opens a “hollow” for the swimming pool. It creates an incredible atmosphere and be known worldwide as the symbol of the successful Lietuvos Plaukimo Federacija.
